Calix Rockstars: Demand Generation Interns Claim the Spotlight Part 2
This is the second post in the series about the Summer Intern program at Calix. Part 1 introduced you to the goal of our program and to two of our Rockstars. Below meet the two remaining interns, Leila Bradaran and Holly Lyle.
Leila Bradaran
School: UC Davis
Major: Communications
Graduation year: 2018
Key Take Away: A strong marketing plan involves a vast range of tasks and roles. Through this internship, I have had the opportunity to work with different parts of the marketing team and have learned how interdependent they truly are. Working extensively with data has taught me how crucial interpretation of data is to the success and growth of any company. There are always ways to improve and I love that Demand Generation provides opportunities to get creative and implement changes to current practices.
Coolest thing you learned during the program:. It has been really fascinating for me to see the overlap between sales and marketing. I learned a lot while working with the sales team to clean up Salesforce; however, the relationship we have with sales and the significance of that relationship really stands out to me.
Holly Lyle: https://www.linkedin.com/in/hollylyle/
School: Georgia State University
Major: Marketing
Graduation year: 2018
Key Take Away: I have a better understanding of my career goals now. We were fortunate enough to talk to many different people within Calix, who have all had different career paths. This allowed me to ask questions about different jobs I had been considering pursuing. It also allowed me to understand that most people don’t end up where they thought they were going to. This encouraged me to be more open with what I want to try in the future.
Coolest thing I learned during the program: I learned how to use Salesforce for accounts, Chatter, TaskRay, and Analytics Studio. I know this is a skill that will be useful to me in the future, and I’m glad I learned so many different facets of it. I also got to see some of how our Sales Automation Manager built dashboards, which was very new to me! Analytics are such an important part to marketing, so I enjoyed seeing ways to utilize data.
Like I mentioned, it was a true pleasure leading this team of interns this summer. Of course, I couldn’t have done it alone. Huge shout outs to my partners in crime, Chris Dawson and Rebekah Cramer for all the support with this team!
